Going Big Like Gary Vaynerchuk

25 Comments 19 May 2008

Gary Vaynerchuk

When I decided that I was going to be profiling Famous Entrepreneurs on Successfool I didn’t know initially who I wanted to profile first. Now keep in mind, these are people I consider famous entrepreneurs either because they’ve been very a successful entrepreneur in the past, are one now, or are an up and coming famous entrepreneur.

The week I was thinking of who I wanted to profile first, I watched an episode of the “Big Idea” with Donny Deutsch and I saw someone that I had been following on Twitter for a long time named Gary Vaynerchuk. What he shared in those 8 – 9 minutes where pretty awesome. The reason I chose Gary to be first is because everything he said on that show that night is relevant to what entrepreneurs need to be very aware of.

Gary Vaynerchuk of WineLibrayTV has helped take his family business from $4 Million to $50 Million in just a few short years. He has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, GQ, and Time, and has appeared on Late Night with Conan O’Brien, Ellen, Nightline, and Mad Money with Jim Cramer.

Over the next few days I’m going to share with you the 5 things that you can start implementing RIGHT now in your business and start seeing some results. Here’s a couple questions in the meantime.

What do YOU love about what Gary’s doing?

What’s the ONE question you would as Gary Vaynerchuk?

  1. Cool video Alejandro. Looking forward to everything you’ve got coming up, especially the Vaynerchuk profile. And I’ll keep my fingers crossed you get an interview with him.

  2. One of the things I love the most is that he is breaking every rule in doing a show and it’s working for him and not against him. He can pull so much off. (for instance… talking to the cameraman)

That’s it for now. I will post much more about Gary later. Thanks for profiling him!

I believe Vaynerchuk is just getting started. Just wait until he reaches the tipping point!

Can’t wait for all the great info coming our way this week!

    • Ya what people don’t realize is this dude is taking OVER that industry and i bet other industries as well.

When he starts to branch out – it’s gonna be ridiculous!

  4. WOW!! Cool! I am now follow Gary! lol Think Big!! I love it!

  5. Tabitha "Tabz" Grace Smith says:

I love that Gary treats his fans and etc as if they’re special. That’s what makes me (someone who doesn’t even LIKE wine) a fan of his.

  6. Well I’m really looking forward to this Alejandro. I’ll be straight with you. I don’t really know that much about him. But from your video he certainly sounds like he’d be great to learn a lot of stuff from. Keep us posted!

    Cheers

  7. WOW! WOW! WOW!

I just got done watching the Donny D. interview with Gary… WOW! That is a whole other side I have never seen to Gary V. I am super impressed with him (more than meets the eye). I am even more excited to follow your posts this week.

    Thanks again Alejandro!

Thanks for hosting Gary as part of your early
dudes for social networking. Beyond my music
biz, I have a small wine shop and Gary rocks
when it comes to vino insights… and, it will
be way cool to follow-along with the insights
that you bring forward for us ‘all’ to enjoy.
    best,
    Ron

Love it! Can’t wait for you to get to the Success from within which I know you will. This will be the third in a whole lot of lessons which I am looking forward to learning from you!

  11. Dawn Light says:

Thanks so much for sharing your wit, wisdom, insights, information and experience on the call with Michelle tonight and I’m so glad to find this post on your website since I didn’t write down Gary’s name when you mentioned it but now I can read about him. Cool.

Congratulations to you on the baby. You’re in for a wonderful ride! My sister just had a baby boy on April 1st. She lives in Dubai so we won’t get to see him much but I’m just glad someone else in my family had a baby. I have 2 sisters and 2 brothers and I was the only one with kids: 2 daughters ages 7 and 17. I know, I’m crazy, I don’t suggest that big of a span. Try for 3 years and use Burton White’s book The New First Three Years of Life. If you want to have them closer, check out his other books on preventing sibling rivalry (you’ll probably need them). ;)

  12. GaryVee is genuine. Had lunch with him earlier this month, and I’ve linked below to the video of the interview we did after the lunch.

Social Web Show – Gary Vaynerchuk

Gary’s book tour is giving people the opportunity to meet him, which would be worth it if you’re within a few hours’ drive of one of the stops he’s making.

  13. Teddy Garcia says:

I was at Rich Schefren’s event in February. Gary was the very last speaker of the entire conference and I had a shuttle bus to the airport I needed to catch at 4:45pm. Gary came on at around 4:15 and even though I had never heard of him I decided to stick around for a few minutes.

I was completely floored from the minute he got on stage and so was the rest of the crowd.

In the first 15 mins he threw down the gauntlet on the entire Internet Marketing world and began to explain a new, better way to build a relationship with your customers that didn’t require squeeze pages or autoresponders or product launches.

Even the other guru’s and speakers seated behind me at the speaker’s table couldn’t believe what he was saying.

Needless to say I missed my shuttle and ended up paying $50 for a cab ride to the airport and nearly missed my flight. I couldn’t leave my seat without hearing everything he had to say and it was absolutely worth it.

He’s the real deal and really does answer all of his emails.

Alejandro, Rick Butt’s told me to check out your blog, glad I did, you’ve got some great information here.

Re Gary V, he’s a very generous guy. His interview with Rich Schefren prompted me to start my own web TV show for entrepreneurs. My background was in video production so I’ve used that experience to create a high quality production each week.

Gary’s been very supportive in helping me create the show, and he even stayed behind for about 4 hours after his presentation at the Schefren event!

  15. Alex says:

    Hey Alejandro,

Great post man and I love your note on implementing what you have learned. Unfortunately I have to agree with you – 90% of people just jump from one idea to another hoping for a big break only to run into anothger dissapointement not realizing they already had their chance and missed it …

    Cheers,
    Alex

P.S. Too bad you didn’t make it to jvAlert Live.

  16. great video over here… I think people should generally stick to their plans when they want to make money…

  17. Tony Smith says:

Hey Alejandro – got a suggestion for you:
you could make a page for ‘analysis’ or something then a sub-page for ‘Gary Vaynerchuck’ and then link to every post.
having a pain of a time finding all the parts of your ‘Deconstructing Vaynerchuck’ series…

also dude, need a mentor… what are your thoughts on this? although it helps, do tehy have to be in IM? Apart from a couple of other dudes who are at the same level as me, I don’t know anyone local who could do it if IM experience is a ‘must’. Also, do you believe in more than one mentor? Would love to hear your thoughts on this…

    Keep it Phat! Tony.
