will you be providing an online version so that those who cant make the call can hear it after?

Alejandro I love your site! The name, the logo, the concept. great stuff! I’m listening to your webinar with Michelle right now. you’re right on the mark with how internet marketers screw everything up. they need to see (and experience) the real social use of these new tools before looking to exploit and automate them. my first experience with social bookmarking was for automated marketing, and it was months before I ever understood it’s true purpose. im types often have tunnel vision and need to get an objective, real life perspective.

p.s. congats on the bebe! I’m 7mo ahead of you.

    • Alejandro Reyes May 23, 2008 at 1:55 am #

i’m going to use that “internet marketers screw everything up.”

    Hey Alejandro,

I really enjoyed the call tonight with Michelle. I have a question. Can you please provide the correct spelling and links to the two websites you mentioned. I am not really sure how to spell them but I will tell you what they sound like. The first one is Samize.com and the second one you mentioned was Twenes.com

    Thanks again,
    Frank

  5. Todd May 23, 2008 at 1:27 am #

Thanks for all the great tools and tips. Much of what you covered is basic common sense and business etiquette, but it seems that it’s not so basic or common online.

The tools are very helpful as was your discussion of how you actually divide your time up.

    Thanks…Todd

    • Alejandro Reyes May 23, 2008 at 1:57 am #

      thanks todd again!

i didn’t think there was a big market like this for “social media/networking” – i was wrong!

  6. Sam Bell May 23, 2008 at 1:30 am #

    Hey Alejandro,

Good call with Michelle, I like the fact that your are big on being part of the conversation. Me and my partner Colin Egbert are teaching a class to real estate investors on web 2.0 marketing strategies, and next week is session five of our training. I wanted to let you know I will be sharing with our group some of the information you shared with us on the call tonight. I know it will bring added value to the information that we already were going to cover. Thanks again and congrats on your success.

    • Alejandro Reyes May 23, 2008 at 1:58 am #

Sam – thanks for stopping by. would love to help out with your real estate folks any way i can…thats my background so i understand the language, and i know they’re hurting right now…

  7. Shinil May 23, 2008 at 1:30 am #

    Hi,

I am Shinil from Pune, India. Just finished listening to your call on the webinar and it was really amazing. Thanks for the wonderful tips especially Comment relish and Tweet Later.

Looking forward to learning a lot from you in the future as well through your newsletter.

    Regards,

    Shinil.

I’m ‘pretty darn introverted’ and in H.S. (shivers up my spine) – I was a ‘wallflower’ so this REALLY doesn’t come naturally to me.

I’d be very happy to skip all the ‘small talk’ and jump right into a serious conversation on, like metaphysics!

Seems like most people don’t really respond too well to that. I’ve seen it.

I LOVE the folks who ARE seriously outgoing though and I make fast friends with them – actually – most people do I noticed.

The online world helps – I can write then edit and think about it.

Then hit [SEND] and not worry so much.

I’ll probably read THIS message 3-6 times before I actually send it along.

It took me awhile to figure out the whole Twitter thing. I’m getting it now though and your call has helped some.

    Working on it,

    Pam Hoffman
    http://seminarlist.blogspot.com

    p.s. yep, three times – i’m getting better…

    • Alejandro Reyes May 23, 2008 at 2:03 am #

Pam – that call was for folks like you! someone who is an introvert willing to get out of your comfort zone and put yourself out there!

    • Michelle MacPhearson May 23, 2008 at 4:29 am #

Pam – I’m similar – more of a “few close friends” type rather then a ‘huge social circle” kind of gal. But it’s really just a skill that takes practice, learning by doing, etc. Reaching out here is a great start!

  9. Barbara Dingwall May 23, 2008 at 1:33 am #

Had my headset on listening to you, while making tuna sandwiches and sewing up a rip in one of my boys’ pairs of pants.
Both you and Michelle are people I’d like to know better. You’re right on. I’m sorta already conversing with Michelle by email, but I’m moving more toward twittering these days. Time to see my four boys off to bed. Thanks, Alejandro. Catch you later.

    Hey Alejandro,

My name is Karen J. and I’m Michelle’s virtual assistant. I sat in on the call tonight and I wanted to say thanks and it was great; I learned some very valuable tips and am starting tonight!

I had fallen into the ‘not so social’ part of social networking and you’ve given me the motivation, and the tips, to get back into the social part of it. I love to socialize too!

I am now following you at Twitter (my profile is areak) and look forward to learning much more from you.

Shout out to Michelle also – she’s one of the most fantabulous people you’ll ever meet and a genius. She has always been so good to me and you can believe she has a best friend in me because of that. Anything she ever wants or needs – I have her back. I.e., the law of reciprocity you referred to. I would dig a hole to China for her if she needed me to!

Thanks for taking the time to do the webinar! I’ll be checking out your blog and I’m sure I’ll learn much more that will help me along my journey for success!

    Karen J.

    • Alejandro Reyes May 23, 2008 at 8:34 am #

ya michelle is definitely someone that i highly admire in this industry.

you’re lucky to be working with her! don’t ever take it for granted…

      • karen May 23, 2008 at 4:06 pm #

You’re telling me @ “you’re lucky to be working with her!” Re: Don’t ever take it for granted – not a chance. We’ve been together for about a year and a half and I look forward to many more years and I wish you the best!

Took your tips and applied them immediately after the call. Now I have to put a time limit on myself because I can socialize for days LOL

I look forward to more from you.

Alejandro, I just had to stop here and say thanks to you and to Michelle for tonites webinar.
Some great tips that I’ve already implemented and some great conversation. Thanks both of you for the gift.

    cheers.

    • Alejandro Reyes May 23, 2008 at 6:20 pm #

tell me about the implementation – be interested to your results!

  13. Nick Fehlberg May 23, 2008 at 1:47 am #

It was great to ‘meet’ you tonight on the call Alejandro. I’m certainly at a cross-roads having spent a lot of time in the ‘Adtech’ marketing world and now jumping in the deep end with social apps, networking with new tools (other than IM!) and learning super-cool techniques for building a prescence online. Hit and run is dead, there’s no sustainability in long term advertising.
Smart people build their businesses around themselves and do it with integrity and a long term focus. That’s what I also felt from you tonight on the call and I really do appreciate you collabing with (my favorite person of the month) Michelle MacPhearson to reflect on your use of twitter and related stuff. Just wish I didn’t miss the first half :)

  14. Barbara Dingwall May 23, 2008 at 1:48 am #

    Hey Alejandro,
I listened in with my headset on, while making tuna sandwiches and sewing up a rip in one of my boys’ pants.

You and Michelle are real and right. Enjoyed your conversation, and resolved to start twittering more often with tweeties like you.

Barbara, a.k.a. Widgetwoman or just plain Mom

  15. Karen Stavert May 23, 2008 at 1:53 am #

Alejandro, thanks for your great energy and your comments
about how to use the social networking appropriately.

I joined a bunch of them quite some time ago… really
wanting to connect with people – and was so overwhelmed
by the amount of pure crap that people threw at me – even
before the ink was dry on my application – that I never
went back to any of them.

We need more and more instruction on networking social
etiquette. Why people think that bad behaviour online
is appropriate is beyond me. Again, thank you. Karen

    Hey Alejandro,

My name’s Christian D. You added me on Facebook, but I haven’t been on lately. I’m a bit of a beginner marketer and you’ve definitely given some great advice which will help me to start off on the right foot. Love the site and the interviews and all the work you’ve done so far. Keep it up! Thanks for the info. I’ll remember to Stay Hungry and Stay Foolish!

  17. karen May 23, 2008 at 2:46 am #

oh…one thing I did want to ask…how exactly do you “name squat”?

  18. Julie Salgado May 23, 2008 at 2:49 am #

    Hey Alejandro,

Thank-you, Thank-you, Thank-you for such a great call with Michelle. You are exactly right – social media networking is all about building relationships!

Great tips as well – twemes.com, tweetlater.com and semmize.com will help me manage my tweets!

    More success to you!

    Julie

    Hi Alejandro!

Thank you for a great presentation this evening. I really enjoyed the call. Things moved a little fast, and I can’t figure out how to correctly spell “surmise” to get the site with the tool. Also, I’m new to Twitter and I’m lost on how to reply to tweets or how to get into a conversation using Twitter.

Can you help me out here?

    Thanks!

    Mark

    • karen May 23, 2008 at 3:28 am #

      It’s http://summize.com/

…find ppl to follow (most of the time ppl will follow you back) and you’ll see everyone’s twitters – then you can jump in on the convos.

…to reply in the public timeline – just use @username then your msg and it will be a public reply

      …to reply in private – use d + username + message

      Hope that helps!

      Karen J.

      • Mark May 26, 2008 at 5:13 am #

        Thanks Karen!

        Your reply was very helpful.

Hope you holiday is a good one…

    Hey Alejandro,

Just wanted to say that your call was utterly FANTASTIC! You are exactly right – social media is all about building relationships first. Thank-you for the great information and tips especially tweetlater, twemes and summize. I will be using these tools to help with my tweets!

    You Rock!

    Julie

when is your next webinar??? :)

I just want to say that the call was very motivating. I have been following michelle for a minute now. She really gives out great advice and help to all of us. I want to say thanks to you for taking time out to really share how to be successful online. I do have one question? how does this name squatting thing work. it was a bit fuzzy to me. (hehe)

    Sincerely, Nixon Lee

  22. Carol Deckert May 23, 2008 at 3:57 am #

Just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed the show tonight with you and Michelle. That was one of the best webinars I was ever privileged to attend and wow, I really learned some great new Twitter tips.

I have already signed up for Tweetlater and setup my autoresponder, but that was after I followed both you and Michelle and attempted to start following everyone that you do, per your advice tonight!

You mentioned on the show tonight that should grab our Twitter real estate, but for the life of me, I just cannot figure out how to do that. When I sign into Twitter, I automatically get my one account and cannot get to open any others.

When you spoke about reciprocity and making sure you were meeting people and helping people, you made my heart sing! You see, I am a Netweaving Coach and I teach individuals and groups how to netweave their connections they make through networking into golden business relationships. It’s all based on Paying It Forward – the oldest, and the BEST way to build your business.

So now that I’m following you (and no, I’m not stalking you!), let’s chat soon and see how we can introduce each other to some more great people and make this whole wide world a little smaller in connections!

I’m also a grandma and very partial to babies so you made me smile talking about your little daughter. My youngest granddaughter is 4, have two (one each) age 6, one age 15 and one age 18 and tell everyone Grandma is the best name you can call me! I love them dearly – and to think that these 5 wonderful grandkids came from our 3 awesome kids! Who would have ever thought that? LOL!

I hope you keep me informed when you are doing more programs, as I would love to attend and would love to inform my network about your great work. Thanks so much for everything tonight and give that baby girl a great big hug and a smooch!

  23. karen May 23, 2008 at 4:42 am #

…just a little helpful help hopefully – saw where someone was asking about the 2 sites mentioned in the webinar.

Aside from those two there were a couple of other tools mentioned – tweetlater.com (for twitter) and commentrelish.com (wordpress plugin)

    …yes, I took notes LOL.

Also, I just installed twhirl for twitter (can also be used with friendfeed and posts can be cross-posted to jaiku and pownce). That’s another nice little social tool.

  24. Dave Webb May 23, 2008 at 4:59 am #

@successfool – Nice job, bro – you’re giving out some very useful info to people. Especially encouraging people to be engaged in participation & conversation. Really needed among internet marketers, for sure.

@caroldeckert – You’re set up to login automatically. Just go to your Twitter account on the web, click on “Sign Out” in the upper right corner, & you will be back on the main page. Click on the “Get Started-Join!” button & presto! claim your Twitter real estate! BTW, responded to your following me & am now following you.

    • Carol Deckert May 23, 2008 at 9:52 pm #

@DaveWebb – thanks so much for that – guess I was really braindead when I didn’t think to do that! You all are awesome and I appreciate the help! What can I do for you?

  25. Mark Ress May 23, 2008 at 6:10 am #

    Hey Alejandro,

Brother you and Michelle rocked it today! Lots of GREAT advice and resources shared today but I think above and beyond all else it’s the caliber of people this synergy brings together. Let’s not forget that because you guys gave and give so much it keeps those around you and who follow you giving. I know that Michelle and you have impressed that upon me and let me tell you that even BEFORE this webinar I was feelin and seeing the impact of the “Social love” and energy you put out.

Again really good stuff earlier tonight and I am glad to know the both of you. I am really looking forward to more networking opportunities with you all and because of you all.

We all can define success in many different ways but it’s like what someone once told me the definition of a good parent is. They told me that the definition of a good parent is defined by how many happy and good memories their kids have growing up. Well we all know that on the Internet we have to grow up fast because technology is always changing BUT with friends like you everyone has a chance to grow, be successful and create some GREAT memories!

    God bless you and yours.

    Mark Ress

    Wow, Alejandro!

I’m almost done listening and note-scribbling from your interview with @michellem, and I have to stop and tell you now how much I appreciate all the great info you’ve shared.

No doubt, you guys are rock stars!!
